the light pours out of me

This series of collages combines fragmented remains of ancient sculpture and distorted pictures from contemporary magazines. The continuity of ideals of order and beauty from past to present points to the image as a form of protean matter. It's expansion is primordial growth, but carrying with it the often sinister ideologies implied in ideas of form.

room

These collages combine the visual vocabulary of tattoos, mudflaps, and logos with the architecture of palaces, churches, museums, and other institutions. This is not an attempt to vulgarize these constructions, but rather embody the fact that as spatial manifestations of power and displays of wealth, these structures are inherently vulgar; different shorthands for the same content.

Mindsets

These collages are part of series conflating mental and physical states. Black and white medical photographs sit-sometimes in balance, sometimes in tension-with colorful, rhythmic collages against bright pop backgrounds. The collages, whose source material were often taken from my own photographs, heavily use networks of directional lines to continually recirculate the eye through the composition, creating a frenzy of trapped thinking.
